🧠 HERON PRESTON IS BACK IN CONTROL — WHY IT MATTERS FOR STREETWEAR

In the ever-shifting world of streetwear, independence is everything — and Heron Preston just proved it.

After years of operating under big fashion conglomerates, Heron Preston has officially bought back his brand, reclaiming full ownership and creative control of his label. This is a massive move for the culture, for creators, and for the future of streetwear.

📦 FROM NGG TO GOING SOLO

Preston first launched his brand in 2017 under New Guards Group (NGG) — the same powerhouse that backed names like Off-White, Palm Angels, and 1017 ALYX 9SM. When NGG was acquired by Farfetch in 2019, Heron’s label was part of the package. But things got shaky.

By late 2024, NGG was in trouble. Coupang (a South Korean e-commerce giant) had taken over, and NGG was facing bankruptcy.

That’s when Heron made his move.

🔥 BACK ON HIS OWN TERMS

In July 2025, Heron Preston announced he had bought back all rights to his name, brand, and trademarks — taking full control of his label once and for all. He called it a “fight to protect his name, his work, and his vision.” And now? He’s back, independent, and planning a full brand relaunch in October 2025, running everything out of Brooklyn, NYC.

He’s also parted ways with outside collabs like H&M and is putting full focus into L.E.D. Studio — his platform for sustainable, creative design.

👁️ WHY THIS MATTERS

Heron Preston’s move sends a message: streetwear isn’t just about hype — it’s about ownership. In a world where big corporations scoop up indie talent, taking back control means more authentic vision, more risk-taking, and more innovation.

At 1away, we salute moves like this. Real streetwear stays rooted in the streets — and when designers take back their voice, the whole culture wins.

📲 FINAL WORD

Heron Preston is back, and he’s on his own wave. Independent. Creative. Focused.
That’s the kind of energy we’re on at 1away too.

Stay locked. The culture’s shifting again.
